Altec Lansing ADA 885
Hello, I have an Altec Lansing ADA 885 and wanted to connect it to a TV. I was just browing the net and found this post of yours http://www.fixya.com/support/t361655-compatability_tv . I was curious if it is possible to use my ADA 885 to get surround sound from the television. I am not too sound savy and not quite sure how it all works. Do I need a reciever to accomplish surround sound? My TV is a Sony Trinitron XBR. It has Audio out but I think only Left/right. What would it look like if it had more to accomplish surround sound?
Definately don't know what I am talking about but any suggestions/hints would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi,
Thanks for posting direct. As you posted, the Sony XBR has only left & right (white/red) outputs whereas your Altec ADA has multiple INputs. This leaves us with no other option but to used just the green INput of the Altec as the black and the S/PDIF has nowhere to be connected to in the Sony.
You would need to use a phone stereo to RCA cable/connector as shown below. Additionally, you would have to set up your speakers as suggested here.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards.
Thank you for using FixYa.
