An AC shop says I have a bad compressor clutch and that I need to replace the entire compressor. I don't have the money to pay such a high bill. I asked about just replacing the clutch and they don't recommend it because apparently removing the old one often takes a piece of metal from the compressor housing with it, thus causing the compressor to fail a few months later. Is this correct?
Even with the proper clutch removal tools it is very possible to either hurt the shaft it is pressed onto &/or the seal behind it that keeps in oil & refrigerant.
They are full of manure ask if you should just give them your bank account number Go to a shop that does several tasks but includes AC repair they will evaluate it honestly these hosers these days want Easy replacment big $$$ no diagnostics in the world could determine what lie they told you they need a good as kicking but just walk away go to second or third shop some one will say oh its the compressor cut off switch OR low Freon can cause the compressor to stop ...see ?? a can of 12 dollar freon 134 or 400 dollar compresor that they will probably not really change...
