Aoc monitor looks like 15 inch, power light kept flashing, but now is on constantly used to work fine quit, sat for a year, plugged back in worked for a few days and then had same problem
Computers & Internet - AOC - LM729 17" LCD Monitor
On these Models, this is a common problem. On most cases ( Note - Not All ), i have seen Capacitors as the main issue. You need to check the power supply section. You need to check all resistors and diodes.
Note - You need to check the continuity across all the connection, if you are unable to locate any Diode or capacitor which is either leaked or bulged. There are certain cases, where you find that IC is actually looking OK, but once you check with Voltmeter/Multimeter, you could find that it is not good at all.
On one of the Models, i worked there was no voltage at pin 7 of IC901, traced back to R906 ( 1M ohm 1/2W ) which was open circuit, replaced R906 and unit back to normal.
Let me know, if needed further assistance.
Hope i helped you.

Hi Marine, good day, the flashing power light means that the monitor is on standby, if pressing power on will not start the monitor, there are porblems with the power supply board.
Here are my diagnosis;
The power board accepts ac mains voltage from 90v to 240v AC and converts them to several levels of DC, if this board goes bad, it will not start your monitor. We swap the power supply board with a new one, then test.
If replacing the power board, the next thing is to swap in the main board with a good one, the power board may be good but it detects an overload on the mainboard, this main board controls the LCD, adjustments, resolutions controls and sound, when this happens, the power supply board goes standby.
Servicing the monitor may or may not get expensive if you will do it yourself, check out first your dealer if the monitor is on warranty.
Else check out the service offered by your dealer, they will replace only the bad part. = )
Without knowing the exact model, I can't tell you where the "restorefactory settings" might be on the monitor. Look for a menu button near the middle of the buttons across the bottom and search through the options. That would be the placeto start. If that doesn't work go to next steps. This link http://www.nam.aocdisplay.com/aoc/support_drivers.html
Will provide software that would be helpful in settings/setup and troubleshooting specifically for your monitor. Please make sure that you identify your monitor properly and select the right driver. After you download and open it according to instructions, your monitor problems may be solved. If not, proceed with next steps.
There could also be a problem with the driver for your graphics card. Check by going to control panel, then system (use classic settings if you are using Windows). You will see a tab for hardware and a button for device manager.
Click on the device manager button. Look for the monitor category. Click on the plus sign. It will probably be listed as a plug and play. Look for an exclamation point. Do this with graphics display adapter too. It should not say generic or have an unidentified card or screen.
That means the device is not installed properly and not at full function. Right Click and go to properties. There again will be a message about whether the device is working properly.
Often, the message is wrong. Their idea of properly is pretty poor, it doesn't care if all the features are working. For the sound card, go to the driver tab and check for the latest driver. Let it search for a better one automatically on the internet. If that doesn't work, you can reinstall both the card and monitor if you need to. I don't advise uninstalling if other methods work.
A simple unplug and restart should work for the monitor, especially with the driver downloaded before hand.
Do that by Turning you computer off. Unplug the monitor. Turn the computer on, then off. Plug in the monitor and follow prompts to install the driver. See how to choose below.
A clean install works best but you need to know what you need to reinstall properly because it involves uninstalling the device from your system using the device manager.
Your graphics card should be identified properly under programs, accessories and system info.
You should search the company's web site for the right drivers so that you can provide them when you restart your computer in case the device manager fails.
Here is how to do a clean install if the driver you downloaded fails during the first installation.
When you right click on monitor/display adapter, choose uninstall. Start with your monitor.
Turn your computer off. Not restart, off. Turn it back on, and let the check system initiate device manager. If the driver does not load, you may have to choose your own driver, so make sure you know how to find it in the folder under programs>aoc.
The issue with installing devices could be that you can't find an appropriate one because the company discontinues support.
In this case, go to MS Windows or OS manufacturer and update. You need to select the option that allows you to choose what you get. For Miicrosoft it is on the left under software. Check the box that says you want device drivers.
If none of the above works, it is likely that a power surge may have damaged your monitor. Thank you for your question, please contact us if we can be of further assistance.
This could be an issue with your CPU not the monitor. Have you check the physical connections between the monitor and computer already? Can you make sure that the cables that link them together is tightly fitted?
You can also try to clean the CPU using a blower. Open the case and then blow off the dust inside it. Check if its using a dedicated VGA card or a built in one. This might need replacement or driver update.
Another reason could be related to the resolution. Connect another monitor and see if you encounter the same issue. If you do, then the issue is with the video graphics controller.
