We had the internal fault light indicated and APC told us it was an internal fan fault and the UPS would need to be repaired or replaced. Instead we tested the battery banks and one was totally dead. Replaced that battery bank and the UPS is working again. Note: The battery fault was NOT lit, only the big "X" which indicates an internal fault. So check your batteries - even if it doesn't indicate that the batteries are faulty!! There are eight 12v batteries (WP5-12) in the bank which ends up being a bit over 100 volts per bank.
