"Application has now crashed" message with all graphic heavy applications
Every time I attempt to run anything requiring a little bit of graphical wizardry I get the same message time and time again:
"The application has crashed the application will now terminate"
We're talking anything from my wife with The Sims 2 or my daughter on Dora The Explorer & The Magic Turnip People or whatever the hell the latest one is.
On the specs side of things we're on my own home-built system running an Athlon Sempron 2200, with 1GB of RAM. Operating system is XP on an 80GB hard drive and it all runs from a 300W PSU. I feel it's worth mentioning that when all I do is surf the NET or download, this thing can run for days on end without so much as a hiccup. Hence my belief the problem lies with the GPU.
An e-mail to Nvidia advised us to clear out the drivers and install the latest ones which we duly did. After the problem persisted, a follow-up e-mail saw us receive the verbal equivalent of a shrug as our reply.
Is it time to admit defeat and buy a new one or do you think there's life in the old card if I know where to look? Any help you could provide would be vastly appreciated.

Your power supply could be the problem....i would replace it with (at the very minimum) a 400 watt ps....ive found that often times 300 watts just isnt enough to power things properly...
