Aprilaire 550 makes extremely loud grinding noise when turned on
Bought a home that has a furnace with aprilaire 550. Furnace works ok. I changed the water wick in the humidifier and turned it on - it makes a loud grinding noise. after a minute or so it went away and water stopped. sincce then, every few minute it seems to kick in with extremely loud grinding noise - the wick seems wet though.
This being bypass filter should I just replace solenoid? if so how do I do it? ( I don't think I saw any fan in there it is not a powered model if I read correctly)

Yes it should be bypass but solenoid could be trying to open but the voltage to it may be to low if you have 24v ac power at the 2 small wires. but to change shut down power to furnace and water to humidifier.you loosen the 2 compression nuts unwire they cant be reversed so dont worry then 2 mounting screws then reverse to install
