Asko D1706 Dishwasher will no longer respond to control knob, turning knob clockwise has no effect on cycle nor will this turn dishwasher off! Dishwasher appears to be stuck in some part of cycle but will no longer wash dishes, door must be left open or will not turn off!
I also had this problem. Support person couldn't tell me if the pump was supposed to run even when setting the control knob to 'off' (bar before (1)). After draining the pan, the control knob functioned normally. So apparently any power to the unit will run the pump when the overflow pan is filled, no matter the position of the knob.
Although a blockage at the disposal can block the draining action, be sure to also check the drain line. The Asko manual also states the entire length of the drain line and including any extenders and U-loops should be 7/8". Be sure to check the entire length for blockages or significant buildup causing a restriction.Although a blockage at the disposal can block the draining action, be sure to also check the drain line. Poor or no draining can also be caused by a weak or non-functioning drain pump.
On the Asko D1706, below the fine and coarse filters, at the bottom left (from the machine front view) of the sump is a semi-circular plug. Make sure power is turned off to the machine. Remove the plug (okay to do while water is in the sump well), and feel for the vanes of the impeller. Rotate the impeller with your finger.
It should take a firm touch to rotate it, and it will 'cog' several times a rotation, and spring ahead or feel 'looser' as it advances past the cog points. If the impeller turns smoothly and with little force, the pump is bad and need to be replaced.
To get a pump, call Asko Parts (866-223-5549), or one of their recommended online suppliers such as repairclinic.com. While you're on the phone with Asko, ask them to send you the exploded view diagram for your model to make sure you get the right part #. Another option is to call Asko Service (800-898-1879), and ask for a list of servicing companies in your zip code or region. One or more of them may stock replacement parts. In the Minneapolis area, only D&T Appliance Service in Hopkins (
It is your overflow .. there is water under in the dishwasher tray or the float is stuck in the up position. you will have to remove the toe panel and get the water out from the tray or free the float ( sometimes soap gets under and sticks the float in the up position... let me know if there is water or stuck switch . hope it helps
