Astro van not charging
The electrical system is not charging./ no start I realize there are 2 seperate issues here background My Service engine lamp came on, yellow ( not the check engine lamp that is red) My local garage hooked it up to a dianostic display. Service lamp was due to a faulty fuel cap ( replaced ) The yellow lamp was still on so I disconnected the battery to clear the fault code. I let the vehical sit for 24-36 hours before using it , when I started it it was not charging, the red battery icon illuminated in the insturment cluster. I disconnected the battery again, this time the idiot light did not illuminate but my ampmeter only shows 6&1/2 volts charging , not the 14 as it should. Could this be the voltage regulator brushes or something else? The alternator is still in the van. Thank you for your input and Merry Christmas
