Audiovox sir-pnp3-sirius radio will stop transmitting to radio with all station info on screen, good satilite reception.will also show acquiring signal with good reception .May or may not come back on
Hello sir de54. This is a common failure due to overheat. As the Sirius doesn't use geosynchronous satellites, the position/signal in the sky appears to change throughout the day. They have three in orbits, and the idea is that eventhough they move around in the orbit over the sky you should have mostly complete coverage most of the time. But your signal strength and angle of reception will change though. This is a common problem facing by most of the PNP3 users. I've call the company and said that the product has been discontinued. But you can try to call Sirius to change the sid#.
I know my satellite radio is very sensitive to antenna location and buildings or trees in the surrounding areas. Is this unit installed in a vehicle or are you using it in your home???
It's not the docking station, it is antenna placement. You will not short periods of bad reception due to satellite position. As the earth rotates, your position in relation to the satellite changes. As this change occurs (especially during the early spring and early fall), your antenna must be positioned at the correct angle to receive reception. I have been thru this with both my units, one in the house and one in the car. The best place to mount the antenna is in a northwesterly direction for home use and it must have no obstruction whats so ever. If you read the guide book, it will explain this in more detail. It's not the docking station, it is antenna placement. You will not short periods of bad reception due to satellite position. Ok...two units with the same problem...NO. it is your antenna placement. I have the same exact unit and have the same exact problem. Answer me this.....what type of car is this radio hooked up to and exactly.....EXACTLY WHERE is the antenna located. What area of the glode do you live??
I want to just tell you it's the radio and go purchase another one, that is the easiest solution.(as false as the statement may be)Ok...two units with the same problem...NO. it is your antenna placement. Is it connected in car. if so then check the cars antenna wire. Also sometimes turning a corner or going over a bump would cause the "aquiring signal" to pop up. try unplugging and plugging back in the antenna. Sometimes that does the trick. Or remove the unit and put it back in. Sometimes when it isn't all the way in the docking station you will get that message. check out keep updated, thanks.
any part getting lose is not possible but yes it can be the heat related problem. the internal circuits are strong but the tiny components on the circuit get overheated very easing in this units.the board has to be checked still to confirm the fault. a local electronics repair tech familiar with this model/brand is advisable to check the board. thanks for keeping updated.
