press the power button briefly, display controls would be shown;
press arrow right to brighten;
press arrow down to select contrast;
press arrow right to increase contrast;
press ENT to accept and save settings.
Should this not work, then the unit has a hardware fault, specifically the back light bulbs themselves or the electronic circuitry supplying their power and controlling their brightness level.
