Battery cables hooked up backwards on ariens model 927041
Cables hooked up backwards for about 10 sec., some smoke came out from under the housing. Re hooked up the battery cables the proper way and no power at the key. NO obvious signs of any wires burnt. This is on a Ariens ride on mower, model 927041. It has a 12.5 I/C Briggs&Stratton, model 289707 type 0115.01, code 93030144.
Thanks, Andy

You may have blown a fuse. Follow the wires from the ignition to the battery and look for the fuse housing also from the starter to the battery. There may be more than one fuse so look good. If all your fuses are ok then it's possible you may have fouled the battery in which case it's time for a new one.
I'm a little worried that the smoke you saw was coming from the starter moter in which case you may need to replace but there should be fuse to protect it so let's not worry about that yet.
Hope you get it running but if not post back and we will figure it out
