Battery drain on 1996 LS400
I tried to start my Lexus and the battery was to weak to start. It was 5 years old so I went and bought a new battery. Installed and the next day the same thing. It show over 12 volts but when you try to start it it just licks in vicinity on the fuse box under hood and then very dim lights inside. Could this be a relay? Any thoughts before taking to dealer? It is in perfect shape and perfect maintenance, never had a problem (115K mi)...great car.

My 96 Lexus LS400 did the same thing; for the last couple of days, mine would take a second or two longer to turn over & start then this morning it didn't start, just tried once to turn over then clicked as long as I held the key to start. Last night I even made sure all interior lights were off before I left the driveway & also turned the heater, headlights and wipers off before i turned the car off. It would not jump off this a.m. either. My dad stopped by to look at it today & said he checked the light on the battery & it was green. He looked around a little, noticed some corrosion & wiggled the connectors a bit. When he jumped it off it started immediately. Tonight when I get home I am going to get the correct tools to take them off, clean thoroughly, put back on making sure I've got them securely connected & see how it works. Could this be your problem, too?
You have developed a drain on the system that could be a light on some where like trunk, glovebox or center counsole. It could be deeper than that but you could check those thing out.
