Sounds like you have a bad ground connection on your starter. If you live in an environment where salt is present this is the a common problem. An easy way to try and fix the problem is to loosen the screw holding the ground wire then take a wire brush and expose bare metal then screw the ground wire back down.
If the ground wire has a lot of corrosion then you might need to replace the wire and screw. Make sure that you still expose bare metal when you install the new wire.
While you are doing this you should check the rest of the ground connections in you engine bay and clean them up.
