The battery replacement for the PRONTO is not a consumer level maintenance procedure. However, I just replaced the 4 original EMX1600sS batteries by anotther model with the same specs and my PRONTO is working fine now. The battery model is Tenergy 2/3A Size Rechargeable Battery 1.2V 1600mAh NiMH W/ Tabs Those are a little smaller than the originals but with the same capacity of 1600mAh and can be easily found in the web. There are other similar models available that could be used but have in mind the limitations for the dimensions and capacity in mAh. The dimensions of the original cylindrical batteries are aprox. 33 mm (1 1/4") X 22mm (7/8"). Anything under those specs should work. Good luck.
Actually if you look closely there are 4 more batteries in the unit for a total of 8 (8 x 1.2v = 9.6v). The size of the original EMX1600css are SUB C.
