Battery plays for 20 secs then goes flat and does not play. battery is full and fine. it does this to all batteries i put in. laser mp3 player

If the battery is ok, and it's always 20 seconds you may have the play mode somehow set on intro, possibly by bumping the buttons accidentally.
Or at least that's what i assume happened when i had a similar problem.
