Belkin N Modem Router If main PC which is ethernet wired to the modem router is swtiched off, laptops cannot access the internet. Does this mean that the PC to which the modem router is connected has to be switched on to ensure internet access for other computers to access through wireless connection? I understood that, once set up, a modem router would work even if disconnected from any ethernet connection

It will as long as the modem/router is connected to a phone line, instead of the pc, the only cable connected to the pc should be a ethernet cable; or you have the pc networking set that it connects via another pc instead of through a gateway, re run the wireless network wizard.
