BenQ FP 731 17" black LCD
I had turned my monitor off leaving my computer running while I slept. A friend tried to use my computer while I was in the shower, and I'm not sure what he did, but now the monitor won't display anything at all. He said he didn't know what button to push to turn it on, tried moving the mouse, thinking it was just on the black screen saver, but when that didn't work and he couldn't see anything, he thought the computer was off, so he pushed the button and shut down my system. When it started back up, I can hear it boot up, and the windows sounds come through the speakers, so I know things are starting as they should, but the green light just blinks on occasionally, and otherwise, there's no indication of life from it. Is it in some sort of standby mode? Did he change something I need to fix with a combination of pushing buttons? Is it shot? I've tried connecting it to my laptop and switching over to external video, and nothing happens, so it's the same with two separate PC's, my Dell Dimension 2350 and HP Pavilion laptop.
I hope I don't have to buy another one as I'm on disability and little money.

It sound like power on the monitor if it is this what you need to do.
Change the 2SC5707 transistors and electrolytic caps in the inverter
section. Also check the 3A picofuse, and resolder all transformer
pins. Are buy a new inverter board, this brand of moniyor is a Dell monitor.
Hope this help you.
