Bernina 830 I've had this machine since the early 80's and have hardly used it as it has never worked properly. my latest issue is that the zigzag selector will not turn back to straight stitch
Open the top and look below the selector lever. It fits into a forked part that snaps back and forth. This gets gummed up and you need to oil it well and move it back and forth until it is freed up. Then your back in business.
The 830 is a fantastic machine. It is completely mechanical internally for the stitch selections. A good cleaning and oiling should get you back on track. Although it has not been used much, some of the original oil or grease can become sticky or pasty in time especially if it has not been used that much. Again a good cleaning and oiling should solve your problem. Good luck, bushvideo
