Blue screeen with error on RT2500USB for wusb54gv4
Hi,
i got an old pc (celeron 2.0gb) from my dad, he was using wifi with the same adaptor without problem, i transferred the MB and chip into my old pc, hook up all hardwares and load a fresh copy of XP. But when i tried to connect the wifi adaptor, the pc could not detect it. Solved the detection problem with a PCI usb 2.0 adaptor. Then while trying to load the driver, it prompt me about no WHQL certification on my device, continued to load driver and the blue death screen appeared pointing to RT2500USB problem (driver).
If i boot the pc without hooking up the adaptor, it works fine which subsequently i can hook up the adaptor hoping it will work. And somtimes the adaptor works for a while and the conflict occurs again, if not an instant reset of pc will happen. I've spent many hours trying to troubleshoot but to no avail....Please help....
Is there a conflict of driver in this case?...I had tried it on a newer pc and it works fine. Linksys declared that it is not their adaptor problem.
awaiting for solution anxiously....Terence...(40+ hours spent)

Driver problem. Go into control panel and delete the adapter drivers. Remove the wifi adapter Then re-boot. I suspect the BSD (blue screen of death) was a result of a driver problem. If you have another computer that you can get on the internet with, go to the manufacturer website and download a driver. If you can get one, install the driver BEFORE plugging in the device and wait for the install program to prompt you to plug in the device. If you can't download a new driver, try plugging in the device again and see what happens. You need to avoid the BSD.
