Bobbin thread tangling under the fabric & top thread snapping off
I inherited my Bernina & am trying it for the 1st time after getting it serviced. The stitches from the bobbin are just making a tangled mess & the thread from the top keeps snapping what is causing this & how do I fix it?

Hi. The people I know who have Berninas just love them--they are a really high quality machine that should give you many years of service.
These kinds of problems are extremely frustrating--especially after just having the machine serviced--(and they happen to all of us!) but they are almost always caused by missing something when you threaded the machine. I suggest you rethread everything and reinstall the bobbin. Make sure the needle is in correctly (that the flat side of the needle shank faces the proper way--most likely away from you, to the rear of the machine) and is inserted as far as it will go. Make sure you thread the needle the right way (mostly likely from front to back), and try again.
Machines vary in which way the flat side of the needle shank has to face and in how the needle is threaded--most modern machines require that the flat side of the needle face to the rear of the machine (away from you) and thread the needle from front to back--but it's always a good idea to check with your manual to be sure.
Please let me know if these suggestions help, ok?
Happy Sewing!
