Bolt not moving while plastic gear spins. When I loosen the two screws on the plate the houses the bolt in the door it will work but still seems stiff

It sounds like you have a mechanical bind going on. If you cannot correct it and feel that you have a defect within the lock, contact Weiser Lock-mechanical defects are lifetime-warrantied.
