BRAKE FAILURE FOUR TIMES THIS YEAR, TWICE IN THE LAST 2 MONTHS MY BRAKES HAVE FAILES WITH NO WARNING. EACH TIME I AM TOLD THAT THE BRAKE LINE HAD BROKEN. HOW MANY BRAKE LINES DOES THIS MODEL HAVE AND IS THERE A BETTER WAY TO HADLE THIS PROBLEM? I AM AT THE POINT THAT I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT EVEN AFTER IT HAS BEEN REPAIRED. I JUST WAIT FOR IT TO HAPPEN AGAIN. HOW CAN THIS BE AVOIDED? [email protected]
Have the ENTIRE brake system redone. Sounds like the lines being put on are either inferior parts, or not being hooked up correctly. You may want to consider changing garages.
I'm not up on current labor costs, but the parts shouldn't cost too much more than $300-400. If you have 4 wheel disc brakes, you probably will be able to re-use the calipers, so that would save some money right there. Oh, I did forget to ask if the car is 4-wheel disc. I assume so, based on the year, but I know some cars were still produced with disc & drum combo still.
