Briggs and Stratton 7KW House Generator can not start. Model 01897
I have the Briggs and Stratton 7KW House Generator, Model 01897, and I moved the generator from one house to another in a different state (from Ohio to IL). I wired the generator the same way it was before and now when I turn the switch to MANUAL, the engine moves a little bit, and after that, it does nothing, it is dead. When I bypass the starter relay (item 23), the engine attempts to start, but it looks like there is no fuel (natural gas), but I am sure the gas line is OK. I replaced the battery and the starter relay and no change. It looks like the controller PC is not providing power to open the gas valve and no power to close the starter relay contacts. It looks like the electronics is the problem. Does anyone know what the problem could be?

You may be experiencing the major short fall in CNG & propane systems. The gas regulator. They are unforgiving. If used every day they stay clear and last forever. But intermittent use allows moisture to form & oxidize internal components. Valves & diaphragm start to malfunction and then the safety design of the regulator prevents it from working unless all is well. I'd be willing to bet this is your problem. Good luck.
If you can isolate the output, if gas is coming out then it works. This is short of pressure testing which is beyond DIY.
I was thinking about it, it makes sense because the generator was sitting not connected since February and the opening for the gas line was opened so, dust or insects could get inside. But, on the other hand, the engine barely moves once and than it is doing nothing, and while the switch stays on manual position, there is no power to the gas valve coil.
Is there a sensor/switch in the gas regulator which informs the control board that the gas regulator is not functioning right?
