Bucking and Jerking upon acceleration
I have a 4.2L van that misfires on Cylinder #2 which causes the van to buck and jerk upon acceleration. The mechanic hooked it up to his scanner which detected over 16000 misfires on that one cyliner. He checked the compression of this cylinder which is fine. The spark plugs and wires are brand new. The coil ohmed out fine. The problem seems to be somewhat intermittent but bad most of the time. In fact, upon acceleration you can press on the pedal to a certain point and get the car to buck and jerk more. The Throttle Position Sensor has been changed with no affect. Two Ford Dealers and two private mechanics have not been able to diagnose the problem. Do you think it might be the coil even though it ohmed out fine? The van seems to idle fine. Anyone with any idea of what else to check or what the problem might be? Thank you.
