Bulb replacement for Sigma EF-500 DG Super
My flash had suddenly stopped working today, changed the batteries, still did not flash. All the functions and buttons work except for the test button which only makes a click noise as if it fires but no actual "flash" fires. This has me believe that it could be a bulb issue. Right before it had stopped the flash, I had put the "built in wide panel" down and took a picture with the flash firing, then I had put it back in and it never flashed again. Any help would be appreciated.

So I had fixed the problem this morning, since the warranty has expired, I opened up the flash to take a peak on the inner workings, and found that a wire had come loose, got out the soldering gun and repaired the connection and all is good.
Same thing happen to me. Suddenly my trusty Sigma 500 DG Super does not flash, but only made a click sound when the test button is pushed. Having modified a few Vivitar flash in my lifetime, I suspected the "loose white wire" as described above. It seems that as the flash zoom moves with different focal length, eventually that wire will come loose.
Here are my steps (1) Make one last pop to fully discharge the internal capacitor
remove the AA batteries (2) pry and remove the 2 rubber cover plates on both sides of the flash, (3) unscrew the 2 screws next to the serial number plate 8 screws under the rubber cover plate, (4) locate the white wire and solder back to to metal tab on top of the red coil thingie, (5) reassemble everything back together.
