Burning smell (electric), continued

May I ask for a little clarification though?
1) I looked through the Smeg spare parts website, and 'suppressor' and 'capacitor' are separate items. Is that so, and are they both located in the same place (where the mains cable goes, as you said)?
2) I'm not sure from what you're saying whether I should replace the suppressor and/or capacitor, or fix it some other way. Please advise...
3) I have attached pictures of the inside and outside of the mains box, for your convenience. Hope they help...
May I remind you also that the machine is still otherwise functional...

In the second picture, the part shown is the suppressor - looks ok as far as i can see and if it is faulty, the damage is usually obvious.
suggesting the suppressor was an educated guess - if machine works ok then just soldier on. the other thought i had was the neon itself burnt out and this will not affect the working of the machine
