c broke and I was forced to try and cool my room with my portable one. When I woke up the next morning the ARP-4012 was not blowing cold air. This happened one day after the one year warranty was up so I was hoping there was something you could suggest I replace or just some ideas. The fan blowing air in the room works, the fan blowing air out the exhaust hose works, the compressor comes on and off

Yes it is possible for it to run when it is low. The compressor will cycle on and off. It will cycle more often as the freon is used up. You have had it for a year and depending on how often you use it will depend how long it last. If you ran it for 7 to 8 hours as you said it is possible that it does not have enough freon to go on as long. One way to find out would be to not use it for at least a day to see how it works, but again if you use it often as I do mine to supplement the home a/c then yes you have gotten you ruse out of the a/c unit. Now if you find someone in your area to service it you will need to weight the difference of replacing or servicing. If the unit worked great for those hours that you had it running, I seriously doubt you have a leak. Again, you need to really see how much you used the a/c to see if you just didn't exhaust the freaon in it. Good Luck.Yes it is possible for it to run when it is low. One other thing that is possible is that if it ran for so long, looking on the bright side, it could have frozen up. The only way to tell that is that it stay off for a good while to see if it defrost. One other thing that is possible is that if it ran for so long, looking on the bright side, it could have frozen up. If the compressor is coming on and off, it sounds as if the unit may be low on freon. You will need to get is serviced.
