C light comes on which is supposed to be for traction the car rpm's will rev out like its out of gear then the car will jolt and the rpm's will drop and it will drive properly...for a while when I would wash the tires it would work fine. I concluded that there may be a sensor on the tires that was dirty causing the car to react...any ideas

Well, when the light is on it means the traction control is off or not working. And yes an ABS wheel sensor could be involved, but I doubt a wheel sensor would cause the symptoms. The jolting part sounds like the transmission is going into neutral for a few seconds.
You should be able to have the abs checked for trouble codes.
