C shuts off, the gas gage does not light up, all at the same time...then for no reason, it comes back on again..its like a loose wire somewhere maybe??

Could be. The speedo and gas gauge would get power from the same circuit, but the ac is different.
Could be something in the harness behind the dash, or the key switch.
