C that does not cool. It will blow hot air only. When it worked, one could hear the compressor kick on and off; now there is no such sound. The repair shop says they think the problem is a faulty switch but they want over $1000 to fix it. What can I do to narrow the problem and maybe save myself some hard-earned money?
The number most common problem in this car is the AC refrigerant leaks and with no refrigerant the AC system will not turn on, i am a Ford dealer tech and know this for sure, so does the system have a charge left in it, take the cap off one of the fill ports and depress the valve, high pressure gas should come out, let me know.
also u should have 12-13 volts to one side of the switch from the AC control in the car.also u should have 12-13 volts to one side of the switch from the AC control in the car.
The next poss problem is with what is called the IRCM which stands for "Integrated Relay Control Module", this multipile relay control module can be self tested with a Ford NGS scanner, that is the only way to run a functional test, so unless u have this $1500 tool (or it's Snap-on tools brother) you need to have the dealer test the IRCM controller.
