C320 MERCEDES STEERING NOISE
I have a "clicking" noise in my steering column when I start up the engine and it lasts about 1 minute then goes away. It does this every time I start my car. What could be the problem?

There is an electronically controlled valve that controlls the use of petrol vapours from the charcoal cannister \ similar which is mounted to the engine bay by a hard rubber mount.
It is related to the emission control side of things.
This usually operated at the 1st start of the day or after a long period without starting and makes a slight happering sound before going away.
This could be a serious problem. Listen real closely the next time your car is started. Is the noise coming from the steering column or the ACTUAL Dash area. Listen closely to see if it is coming from the area where the key is pushed into the ignition. If so!! This could get real bad quickly. There is a unit in there that controls almost everything with the key in the (ON) Position. CHECK AND LISTEN! Also if its not anything like this it could be your (Air Conditioning flaps) They open when the car is turned on to the last known position and something could be stuck in there!
