It would make your life much easier but you can get away without by removing all the mounts except drivers side tranny, and you may have to remove a couple accessories(such as the power steering pump to avoid snapping off the pully), then remove the lower cross member and suspend the motor/tranny with a hoist and lower it to the ground with the van it self up on jack stands you should then be able to access the camshaft good luck and please rate -jeff
