No. If you had a bad coil the symptom would be a misfire (irregular idle) Is the engine light on? If so, can you have the codes read? The "Cut offs" could be electrical or mechanical. You may need to verify fuel-line pressure and condition of the fuel filter. When was the last tune-up done? A defective oil sending unit, MAFor MAP sensor could also be to blame but tests really need to be performed so you don't spend money of parts that are not broken. Can you give anymore details?
