Camera ran out of battery,whilst zoom lense out.Replaced with new batteries but now when i turn the camera on it bleeps for about 3 seconds and then goes off.I cant even get it to stay on long enough to bring zoom back.Please help as i really need to get this fixed for xmas

Some batteries (especially the lower mAh rechargables) don't seem to have enough power. Try putting in a couple of brand-new (non-rechargeable) Duracells, and see if that helps.
