Camera shuts off after one shot
I'm having a problem with my Minolta Max 7D camera. Its 3 years old, and with a fully charged battery will shut off after taking one shot. If I take the battery out - while the camera is still on - and re-insert the battery it will stay on as normal? What is wrong?

Set the camera to clean ccd mode and carefully remove the lens. If you can't see the ccd but only the shutter then the shutter is sticking. I have this problem when not using the camera regularly. My solution to free the shutter was just to set the camera to long exposure and just keep restarting the camera and taking a photo until the shutter moves. This problem happened from the very first time I had the camera run low on batteries at a few months old but at the time I never checked the shutter and the camera just restarted once and it worked.
had the same problem, I indeed set the camera to BULB (M with shutter speed one click above 30secs) I take off the lens and keep press the "take picture" button and hold it pressed and with a little screw driver (be VERY careful) I helped the shutter move and thus get unblocked! some times its very tedious to make the shutter move whithout physically damaging the mechanism so be as careful as a good heart surgeon. this block occurs possibly due to the ageing and therefore due to the lack of proper lubrication of the mechanism that activates the shutter. There are some lubricants that someone could use to get this thing going if it ends up blocking too many times. many antioxidant-dust removers for electric/onic boards lubricants can do the job but only a tiny amount should be used and it should not be applied directly from the lubricant's hose but with a special brush while the shutter is allowing the sensor to accept the ambient light. it worked for me!
