Campbell Hausfeld compresser throwing breaker
When I run my compressor it works fine and builds pressure until it kicks off. But when I use air and to refill the tank the motor hum's and it throws the electrical breaker. If I wait until the motor cools it works fine again. Any ideas???

There is a one way valve that only lets air from compressor to tank. If this isn't working the motor is trying to start under the pressure of the tank, and therefore tripping your breaker.
i have the same problem same compressor, i took out the check valve and it works. what is the next thing to try?
I had the exact same problem. Mine was because I had several ounces of water in my tank. I drained the tank and now it works great. I have come across others that have fixed this problem by replacing one or all of these: Check Valve, Unloader Valve, or Pressure Switch. Hope this helps your are someone else with the same issue.
It could be that the bearings on your motor are defective or warn allowing the amateur to move sideways in the fields, or the motor is too small to run the compressor. If it's the latter, replace the motor with a larger motor ( more horsepower ). If it's the former replace the bearings or bushings or replace the motor.
Good luck,
