I just bought a Remington 700 .270 (long action?) for hunting. I want to purchase Redfield dovetail mounts and rings with the windage adjustment to attach my Leopold VX-II 3-9X50. I've never mounted a scope before but would like to do it myself. What extent of gunsmithing is involved and will I need medium rings or high rings for this scope? Are there any installation instructions that I can review before I make the purchase?
