You haven't stated what the oil is for. For the engine and transmission, you have oil for the transmission and you have oil for the cylinder and crank which is mixed with the fuel (premix). In many cases, the 5 w30 could be used in the transmission so long as the API specifications match that of what Yamaha recommends, and so long as no special antifriction additives are used as these will not be good for your clutch. As far as the premix goes, use what Yamaha recommends. Yamalube premix oil is good stuff. Engines I have worked on that used Yamalube exhibited surprisingly clean surfaces with little to no carbon deposits in exhaust ports and combustion chamber. Premix oil is specially designed for the two stroke combustion cycle. Regardless, always use what the manufacturer recommends, not necessarily by brand, but by specifications. I am not a lubricant specialist, nor am I a Yamaha expert. 5 W 30 doesn't sound correct to me. You should check with your Yamaha dealer for proper lubricant. Of course you could check the Yamaha web site which will also give you specifics. Talking with the guy or gal at the parts counter at your Yamaha shop will give you lots of other valuable information about your YZ.
