You can use any coaxial audio cable with RCA jacks at the end for the subwoofer side. The quality of the cable is up to you, meaning that it's not necessary to spend a lot of money just for cables. I have to tell that I don't understand exactly what you mean with "or a phono cord". In case you mean the speakers' cable, no you can't use this cable.
