Can not get the chain to move as it is a brand new model and all the instructions are in french i think there may be a brake on model is mac 40 tt oregon chainsaw
I think the chain brake is engaged. Grasp the forward most upper handle/paddle. Pull it slowly aft with some force. If tripped it will make a loud click when a pin engages a keeper. Once released it will move forward but the chain brake should be released. Can you rotate the chain manually (please wear gloves)? Did you go to the last page in your manual? Is it in French too? If it is a Mac try to find a replacement manual here:
McCulloch Manuals Illustrated Parts Lists: (IPLs) are fairly simple, on the underside of McCulloch saws is a black and yellow tag; the upper number (“Power Mac 320” 600021H) is the model, below it a serial number (11-18555). These 2 numbers are combined to create an IPL number (“Power Mac 320” IPL number = 11-600021H). The IPL number can be used to find the correct IPL for every McCulloch parts supplier I have found. If the parts supplier only list part numbers the proper IPL is the source for the part number. Operators Manuals: are much more difficult. I have dialed this number many times (Contact Us - All McCulloch Products 1 (800) 521-8559) and have yet to get a satisfactory response. Please try this! If enough of us try they will fix it! If unsuccessful with McCulloch try here: Beg for manuals thread (ArboristSite - free to join). Please use the search function first, it has probably been asked and answered. http://www.arboristsite.com/showthread.php?t=72322 HTH Lou
