No you must pull the two straps off and it's not that hard to do, you must open gas cap lid remove screws from the gas cap to body and then get a deep well socket 1/2 or 9/16 inch deep well with a 6 inch 3/8s extension and a swivel joint you can undue the screw the nuts and the tank will drop down. Be sure to have the tank close to empty and drop it down Be sure to disconnect the battery positive post before removing wires on tank mark with a felt tip pen where each color of the wire goes disconnect the rubber hoses to the fuel tank sending unit and the fuel pump when you by a new pump you will get new hoses to hook up be sure to change them. This is a 2 hour job But when you replace the fuel pump replace the fuel sock. If you decide to do this let me know and I will give you a few more details, the fuel tank weighs 20 pounds empty so with 5 gallons of gas in it you can push it back in place with your knees or use a small floor jack and a piece of wood to hold it in place. the gas will weigh roughly 6 pounds per gallon so that will give you how much it will way 5 gallons would be 30 pounds plus the 20 would be 50 pounds. the rear of the straps are hinged and stay in place making it easier to get back up.
