You can verify what drive has been detected by your Operating System, which I assume is Windows of some sort by going to: Control Panel -> Admistrative Tools -> Computer Management -> Disk Management -> Your Hard disk will be displayed with all existing partitions. I order to use any partitions in your new drive, you will need to assign a drive letter to each new partition. If you have a brand new drive that is completely unformatted, then you will need, also via the context menu, Create partitions, Format partitions and assign a drive letter so that you can use the formatted partitions.
