Does the device have a physical switch (or slider) to block all "write" attempts (to add a file, or to update the table-of-contents to indicate that a file has been deleted) ?
If not, then copy all the files onto your 'C:' disk-drive, and burn them to one CD-writable disk.
Then, take a hammer to crush the flash-drive, to prevent anybody else from pulling any files off it.
Then, spend $10 to buy a new 2048MB (2GB) flash-drive, i.e., 4 times as much capacity.
