Cant find my routers Gateway Site..?
I have recently registered a static ip to my computer using help from
www.portforward.com . I then neeeded to open a couple fo ports which requires you to visit the site for your router. My router is an Intellinet AcvtiveNetworking. When I visit www.portforward.com to learn hwo to port forward On my router. It says that the default Adress to pu in your web browser is 192.168.2.1. So i continue with that address. When I get to the site it shows me my DNS servers etc. but the web page is titled Modem Status and has no section on configuration and in the corner it is directed at bell Sympatico which I recieve my internet connection from.. So im confused on hwo to get to my router configuration... nor does the site bring up a box which allows me to long in before configuring..

First you must make sure that the Ip address 192.168.2.1 is your routers ip address.
Click on Start, Run, type cmd, then click OK. Type ipconfig /all and hit the enter key. You are looking for the Default Gateway address. Use that address in your web browser. When you set up your static Ip address on your computer, use the first three numbers of your default gateway's address, then for the fourth number, add one. For example. If your default gateway address is 192.168.2.1, then your static ip address should be 192.168.2.2.
Try this and let me know what happens.
This screen is alot different than what the website presented. The device you have is just a modem, not a router. Therefore cannot be configured in the way you are attempting.
Do you have a second device?
By the looks of it, the dns server is configured incorrectly. The router, or the device that is directly connected to your computer is listed as both the default gateway and dhcp server, which is entirely possible. However, the DNS server address should be an outside address, something that does not start with 192.168.
There are 3 ranges of addresses that are private and can be used by anyone. (10.#.#.#), (172.16.#.# to 172.31.#.#), and (192.168.#.#) - the pound # sign represents any number up to 255.
Ok, Here it is, go back and reconfigure your computer with static Ip address, using 192.168.2.2 for your computer, then 192.168.2.1 for your default gateway. This is a necessary step because when you are port forwarding, you are speciffying a specific Ip address to forward to every time. With DHCP enabled, the ip address assigned to your computer can change from time to time, this would make port forwarding not work correctly. Visit the following link.
