Thermostat is on left side of bike, remove side tupperware pieces, follow radiator hose to engine head, it's in a housing. There is a bleed screw that faces forward, on the housing. 8 mm wrench for the bleed screw. Thermostat for my 2008 is $43 at dealer, just checked on it. Don't replace unless broken. If the bike overheats, first check for trapped air in the system, when cold, loosen bleed screw with radiator cap off, if air bubbles out, you have air in system, tighten bleed screw, refill at cap, run bike 10 seconds, repeat until no more air. See YouTube for procedure, mitch has many videos. Good luck!
