Computers & Internet - Kingston - (DTIU3/2GB) 2 GB USB Hard Drive
Take it back and get another one while it is still under store warranty!
Kingston drives are among the best out there- I use my 16GB at work constantly, but like any other electronic device, there is a small percentage that will fail "in the field", and I have seen it many times.
Since it is still under store warranty, this will not affect your exchange, but I would like to add a word of caution.....
In winter climates, ESD (electrostatic discharge) is a very common occurance, especially to devices normally carried in a pocket...cell phones, IPODs, "Jump" drives, etc.... you may not even feel the spark, but in a low humidity winter environment, you can charge your body to a potential of several thousand volts without even knowing it.... when you grab the device out of your pocket and it contacts metal, the potential is discharged, and it can cause damage to even the best electronic devices.
The best way to prevent this to:
First, avoid "crackly" clothing.... the snaps you hear are thousands of miniature lightning strikes- most common with wool, polyester, and most synthetics.
Second, ALWAYS touch a large piece of metal- whatever is around.... and keep contact with it while you pull the device out of your pocket.
Last, touch a piece of metal just before you connect your device.

This will eliminate most ESD problems.
