Initially, postback the brand and model number of the TV unit where the TruTech DVD player is connected to. Additionally, describe the manner of connection; a single coaxial patchcord or multiple RCA to RCA cables.
Offhand, if it were a single coaxial patchcord, then the TV must be set to Channel 3 (or 4). If it were RCA cables, the TV must be set to external AV source. It would have a button to effect this marked INPUT, SOURCE, AV, VIDEO, GAME or a label to that effect. In some instances, this button must be pressed a couple of times to cycle through the available sources.
Appreciate your postback and additional information.
To consider:
press the Sanyo remote's INPUT button until either Video 1 (AV1) or Video 2 (AV2) is displayed whichever is used to connect the Trutech to the Sanyo (1 if connected at the front and 2 if at the rear);
if still a no-go, disconnect the yellow and white and interchange positions both on the TrueTech and on the Sanyo. This way the video wold now be using white while the yellow would be for the left audio. The idea is to determine if the cable is faulty. If still a no-go, it could be tried with the red;
another possibility to consider is that the DRT-S810 was inadvertently set to Progressive mode. Check the TruTech remote for a button marked PS, P.SCAN and press on it. Alternately, temporarily connect the TruTech's Video OUT (yellow) to the Sanyo's Composite Y (Green). The image would be in black & white but still would allow you to try setting up the TruTech;
if all else fails, then it would be as you earlier posted, the DVD player is defective.

Sounds like you have the correct cable. Can you see the disc loading screen when you start a DVD? Will it play? Sounds like you have the correct cable. Can you see the disc loading screen when you start a DVD? Will it play?

To consider:
I understand and glad that you got it working, congratulations.
The I/P button stands for Interlace/Progressive Scan. By pressing on it, the TruTech has switch to regular interlaced video output.
It would be appreciated if you could rate this assistance as you see it fit of course.
Are you using the Composite Video (single yellow) RCA connector for this? This output is always on and you should be able to see the setup menu.
Sounds like you have the correct cable. Can you see the disc loading screen when you start a DVD? Will it play?
You need to be using a Yellow + Red and White type of cable connectors. Yellow = Video. Red and White = Sound.
You can also use a Green Red Blue cable set for Component video. This cable, all colors are for video. You still need the red and white for audio.
Your Tv should not be on channel 3. It should be on A/V and if you channel down its usually right before channel 3.
Good luck
