Cant get sound out of the receiver on the sat input

I am able to get video but I I am not getting any audio. My receiver is a Pioneer

Have you selected the appropriate input type? (e.g. Optical, HDMI?)

Some receivers (like my Onkyo 606) support HDMI passthrough, but will not decode audio signals from HDMI. Making it a pretty useless port!

Do you get sound when you select FM Tuner on the Pioneer?
