Can,t get voltage to spark plug. Checked condensor and points and they are both ok. How do you check the coil ? I,ve tried with a ohm meter but I,m not sure what I should get as far as readings on the coil, spark plug wire to other side of coil and point setting. Any help would be greatly appreciated. One of the points should connect to the coil and the other to ground, With the points open and the kill switch for the engine off i.e. open circuit, measure the resistance from ground to the other end of the coil which is connected to the points. If this is infinite, the coil has gone open circuit or is not grounded properly. Normally the resistance should be a couple of ohms falling to near zero as the points close. If the resistance doesn't fall, check the points aren't dirty or corroded. they can be cleaned with fine sandpaper and IPA but dont overdo it as the points are given a coating to resist arcing and this can be worn away if you rub too hard.
Try a new spark in case this is the problem.
Possibly the spark lead isn't making contact with the end of the plug in the spark plug booth.
Check the kill switch for the engine isn't shorting out the coil, it should be open circuit when the engine is running.
