Make sure that you are using one of the 4 slots for ethernet on the router to connect to your computer.
are you able to go online if the modem and the computer is directly connected using the ethernet cable ?
Here's what you have :
- 1 RJ-11 ADSL port (for the phone cord)
- 4 RJ-45 10/100BASE-TX Fast Ethernet LAN switch ports with auto MDI/MDIX (for ethernet cable going to the computer)
- Built-in 802.11g WLAN (wi-fi)
- Console port (don't mind)
The issue that are experiencing is - While the ethernet cables are securely connected, does it say on your computer that the ethernet cable is not connected ?OR
Is it the Installation Program telling you about the error / warning message ?
That means that you are using the installer for the modem. This might be the one causing the problem.
While plugged in to your ADSL modem router
Click start then run then type in CMD in the command prompt type in IPCONFIG if it does not show media state disconnected then the drivers are ok. What is the IP that you get and the GATEWAY.
Take note of the gateway. Open your internet explorer browser then type in the GATEWAY address in the address bar.
AFter that call your ISP and ask for the VCI VPI settings as well as the ENCAPSULATION. Just enter that into the modem and you should be ok.
DONT USE THE INSTALLATION CDS any longer
Scrap this instruction "AFter that call your ISP and ask for the VCI VPI settings as well as the ENCAPSULATION. Just enter that into the modem and you should be ok. "Scrap this instruction
Connect the modem to the router internet port. Then in the page on the browser just select the settings for your provider and save your settings.
Sometimes you need to connect the cable to the router, then restart the system while its connected so as it can give it the default ip address for set up and engage the lan cable
Hi,
When you plug in the internet cable directly to the system , are you able to go online. on the computer. If no there could be a problem with the NIC card on the computer.
Could you give the, the exact model of the broadband router.
Thanks

Hi,
In case you want to configure it using the USB cable on the wireless router , you need the USB driver for the same. The same can be downloaded from the following website
Ensure the cable is plugged on one of the ports 1..4, try a replacement cable.
If your computer is telling you "no network connection / cable unplugged".
First you need to try a replacement cable, see if port led corresponding to port where cable is connecting on router is lit on.
If your computer card has a led near to the socket, this must also be on.
Here is download for the driver: Softpedia Mirror (US)
Download, unzip and run the drivers for adapter card after you test the cable.
To use wireless the router must be configured first.
If wireless on this router is already configured, yes you install an USB wireless adapter (install drivers first), put in encryption key when asked, and both laptop or PC can connect to router through wireless.
If router wireless is not configured yet you need to access router with a cable to configure it.
If your laptop has a LAN (ethernet) port connect it to the router with a cable. The cable must be working. If you use same cable and it is not even working on the laptop then the cable is probably faulty.
